This is an example of the monthly bloopers that Patreon supporters receive at the $10 tier and above. Bloopers are usually two to four minutes and include behind-the-scenes stories, strange noises, and general nonsense. Learn more about the Folk Files Patreon here.

Some context is needed for these bloopers: I recorded episode 2.7 in an abandoned nursing mothers’ room. I was in the middle of a three-month tour, and I spent July on site at the Bristol Renaissance Festival outside of Chicago, which was lovely…but it means limited access to quiet, AC, and power. I lived in a castle (or…I lived behind the facade of a castle) and my neighbor (a musician) was telling me all about how he found a perfect room for doing recording.
My ears perked up, because I knew I would need to record Folk Files imminently, and the tentative plan to record in my hot little room with a blanket thrown over me, hoping that my fridge wouldn’t randomly hum was not ideal. My neighbor said that the festival left the nursing mothers’ room open during the week and that it was spacious, cool, and had okay acoustics. Additionally, there did not appear to be any nursing mothers camping in the area, so it was empty on weekdays.
My neighbor didn’t realize that sharing his secret might lead to people invading his secret space …as you’ll hear at the end of this set of bloopers, when he comes into the room with all his instruments!
